Mythbuntu 8.04 Upgrade Notes
Upgrading your Mythbuntu to the latest version, 8.04, is just as easy as upgrading a normal Ubuntu installation. Please refer to the generic upgrading instructions for Ubuntu.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when upgrading from an earlier version of Mythbuntu or Ubuntu:
- If you use VNC to connect to your Mythbuntu computer, you need to reconfigure the VNC service in the Mythbuntu Control Centre. The original VNC server used for this feature in Mythbuntu 7.10 doesn't work properly anymore, hence the need to reconfigure after updating.
- In order to be able to shut down your Mythbuntu computer using HAL, you need to update your shutdown and reboot commands manually to /usr/share/mythtv/myth-halt.sh and /usr/share/mythtv/myth-reboot.sh. By using these scripts, there's no need anymore to modify your sudoers file just to turn off your media centre.
